Technology & AI
TEKNOLOJİ VE YAPAY ZEKÂ

03This house would require all AI-generated images to be labelled.B2

City life
ŞEHİR VE YAŞAM
01This house would make public transport free.B2

against → Something free is often underfunded; riders may get worse service, not better.
02This house would ban private cars from city centres.B2

for → Cities offer more schools, culture and diversity of people to learn from.
against → Children need space, safety and time, all of which big cities make expensive.

for → When homes become hotels, neighbourhoods lose the residents that made them worth visiting.
against → Owners should decide how to use their property, and tourism money supports local businesses.
05This house believes remote work is killing city centres.C1

against → City centres are not dying, they are changing from places of work into places of leisure.
Education
EĞİTİM

for → Young children learn more from play, rest and family time than from worksheets.
against → Homework builds routine and lets parents see what their children are learning.
02This house believes university should be free for everyone.B2

Environment
ÇEVRE

against → Governments respond to voters and consumers; individual choices create political pressure.

against → Tourism money often pays for protection that would otherwise not exist.
Culture & the arts
KÜLTÜR VE SANAT
01This house believes theatre tickets should be subsidised for young people.B2

against → Subsidies help those already interested; the real barrier is curiosity, not price.
02This house would return museum objects to their countries of origin.C1
for → Objects taken in unequal times belong to the cultures that made them.
against → Great museums let millions see world culture side by side, which has its own value.
03This house believes art made by AI is real art.C1
for → Art is defined by the experience of the audience, not the biography of the maker.
against → Art is a human act of choice and meaning; a tool that predicts patterns does not intend anything.
04This house would separate the art from the artist.C1
for → A work can outlive and exceed the moral failures of the person who made it.
against → Supporting the work supports the artist, and audiences are not neutral.

against → Many people find deep understanding online that they never found nearby.
02This house would make voting compulsory.C1

for → Children learn responsibility by facing the results of their own choices.
against → Children need sleep to grow, and some decisions belong to adults.

against → At sixteen most people still depend on their parents and have little life experience.
Language learning
DİL ÖĞRENMEK
01This house believes translation apps make learning languages unnecessary.B2

against → A language is a way of thinking and connecting; an app gives you words, not relationships.
02This house believes accent does not matter as long as you are understood.B2
for → Communication is the goal, and native-like accents are an unrealistic standard.
against → Accent still affects how people are judged, so learners deserve help with it.

for → Each new language makes the next one easier and widens a child's world.
against → Two foreign languages done badly are worth less than one done well.
04This house believes speaking practice is more important than grammar study.B2
for → You learn to speak by speaking; grammar knowledge alone rarely becomes fluency.
against → Without structure, mistakes become habits that are hard to change later.
05This house believes English as a global language threatens other cultures.C1
for → When one language dominates, local languages lose prestige and young speakers.

Ethical dilemmas
ETİK İKİLEMLER

SEYAHAT VE YURT DIŞINDA YAŞAMAK

for → Many young readers already get their news from phones.
against → Print may shrink, but trusted journalism will survive in new forms.

club formats
"This house would…" kalıbı bir öneri koyar, bir grup savunur, diğer grup karşı çıkar.
"This house believes" ve "This house would" ne demek?
Münazara geleneğinden gelen kalıplar. "This house believes…" bir görüşün doğru olup olmadığını tartıştırır; "This house would…" bir eylemin yapılıp yapılmaması gerektiğini; "This house regrets…" bir gelişmenin iyi mi kötü mü olduğunu. Kalıp, konuşmayı kişisel kavgadan çıkarıp önergeye bağlar.
B2 ve C1 işaretleri neye göre verildi?
B2 işaretli önergeler somut ve günlük hayata yakın; artı-eksi tartmak yeterli. C1 işaretli önergeler soyut kavramlar, değer çatışmaları ve ince ayrımlar içeriyor. Aynı önergeyi farklı seviyelerde de kullanabilirsiniz: B1 bir grup için önergeyi "Do you agree that…?" sorusuna çevirmek işe yarar.
